RegulaTor: A Straightforward Website Fingerprinting Defense

چکیده
Abstract Website Fingerprinting (WF) attacks are used by local passive attackers to determine the destination of encrypted internet traffic comparing sequences packets sent and received user a previously recorded data set. As result, WF particular concern privacy-enhancing technologies such as Tor. In response, variety defenses have been developed, though they tend incur high bandwidth latency overhead or require additional infrastructure, thus making them difficult implement in practice. Some lighter-weight presented well; still, attain only moderate effectiveness against recently published attacks. this paper, we aim present realistic novel defense, RegulaTor, which takes advantage common patterns web browsing reduce both defense accuracy current closed-world setting, RegulaTor reduces state-of-the-art attack, Tik-Tok, comparable from 66% 25.4%. To achieve performance, it requires 6.6% 39.3% less than leading moderate-overhead defense. open-world limits precision-tuned Tik-Tok attack an F 1 -score of. 135, compared .625 for best

Toward an Efficient Website Fingerprinting Defense
Website Fingerprinting attacks are conducted by a low-resource local adversary who observes the (encrypted) traffic between an anonymity system and one or more of its clients. With this attack, the adversary can recover the user’s otherwise anonymized web browsing activity by matching the observed traffic with prerecorded web page traffic templates. The defenses that have been proposed to count...

Website fingerprinting (WF) is a traffic analysis attack that allows an eavesdropper to determine the web activity of a client, even if the client is using privacy technologies such as proxies, VPNs, or Tor. Recent work has highlighted the threat of website fingerprinting to privacy-sensitive web users. Many previously designed defenses against website fingerprinting have been broken by newer a...

Website fingerprinting is a traffic analysis attack that allows an eavesdropper to determine the web activity of a client, even if the client is using privacy technologies such as proxies, VPNs, or Tor. Effective defenses against website fingerprinting hamper user experience due to their large bandwidth overhead and time overhead, requiring more than a half minute to load a page on average. In ...

متن کاملk-fingerprinting: A Robust Scalable Website Fingerprinting Technique
Website fingerprinting enables an attacker to infer the source of a web page when a client is browsing through encrypted or anonymized network connections. We present a new website fingerprinting attack based on fingerprints extracted from random decision forests and evaluate performance on three separate data sets consisting of both standard web pages as well as Tor hidden services. Within the...
